Loe, van wie hij het landgoed Terporten bij Goch had verworven. Als geschoold jurist was hij op verschillende niveaus ge\u00ebngageerd in zijn beroep, de politiek, de gemeenschap en de kerk.<\/p>\n<p>In zijn tijd viel de eerste industri\u00eble verwerking van de in de landbouw geproduceerde goederen &#8211; melk, graan of suikerbieten &#8211; en alle producten waarvan de marketing steeds meer een bundeling van de producentenbelangen vereiste. Om aan dit concept van bundeling te voldoen en tegelijkertijd een behartiging van de belangen van het beroep richting politiek en overheid te organiseren, richtte hij in 1882 de Rijnlandse Boerenvereniging op, een van de eerste vergelijkbare verenigingen van het agrarische beroep.<\/p>\n<p>Naast het professionele engagement was er een religieuze motivatie &#8211; het verzet tegen de represailles van het door Bismark gedomineerde Pruisen tegen de katholieke kerk, in de zogenaamde Kulturkampf. Bismarks doel was de scheiding van staat en kerk, maar in de praktijk wilde hij het religieuze leven uit het openbare leven bannen: geen godsdienstonderwijs op school, geen &#8220;openbare&#8221; religieuze uitspraken zoals bv. de Corpus Christi processies, geen bouw van nieuwe kerken &#8211; zo wilde hij het katholicisme stap voor stap terugdringen.<\/p>\n<p>Het was duidelijk dat Bismark zo&#8217;n verzet, dat zich vooral aan de Nederrijn vestigde, niet had verwacht &#8211; bundeling van politieke belangen en ignorantie van de Berlijnse verordeningen was het motto dat Felix tenslotte 6 maanden gevangenisstraf in Wesel opleverde. In de religieus gemotiveerde oppositie was hij echter zo sterk en onbuigzaam dat hij door paus Leo IX tot de rang van graaf werd verheven als erkenning voor zijn verzet, de hoogst mogelijke kerkelijke erkenning voor een leek.<\/p>\n<p>Felix Freiherr von Loe trouwde op 25 juni 1850 met Wally von Groote. Hij stierf op 28 mei 1896 in R\u00e4ckelwitz, Saksen. Veel straten in het Nederrijngebied dragen nog steeds zijn naam en in 1901 werd in Kempen zelfs een gedenkteken voor hem opgericht door de Rijnlandse
